US House Publishes Draft Plan for Reauthorization of NCLB
One lesson educators should have learned from the first iteration of NCLB: Pay attention and let your voice be heard early and often.
Rep. George Miller's Committee on Education and Labor has released a "staff discussion draft" of Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act -- currently known as "NCLB." There will, no doubt, be much discussion of this draft. See it for yourself:
It's very important to note that the Committee hasn't voted on any of this. Think of the draft asa "trial balloon" that's been tossed up in the air -- this is your chance to let the committee members know what you think. As noted on the Committee website, "The Committee welcomes and encourages comments on this discussion draft. Please send any comments to ESEA.Comments@mail.house.gov."
