NVLB: No Vendor Left Behind

When the NCLB law came out, the folks at our office dubbed it "NVLB." It was clear that their were certain individuals and companies (test companies, for example) that were going to make megamillions because of this law.

But we never thought that Department of Education officials would be stuffing their own pockets! (Perhaps we were naive.)

That's why we were really sad when we read this morning's Washington Post.

Educators: Welcome to the world of bigtime political graft. If you wondered why so many politicians and business groups have become interested in education, we're sad to say that a major reason is that there is big money to be made.

Remember, Ross Perot made his fortune from the government (Medicare and Medicaid). There are a lot of folks who want to follow in his footsteps.
