House Appropriations Education subcommittee action this week – Common Ed
HB 1020 Benge & Newport, Morgan & Crutchfield
Common Education appropriations bill. There are no numbers in this bill yet, and there won’t be for a while. It will most likely go from the House to the Senate as a “shell bill” and the final language will be crafted in the General Conference Committee on Appropriations (GCCA) – much later in the session.
HB 1479 Staggs
Abolishing the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation and moving its duties to the SDE and OSRHE.

Deferred compensation plan for teachers.

HB 1622 Kern
Permits teachers to terminate payroll deductions for professional organizations at any time. The subcommittee discussed amending the bill so that teachers could initiate or terminate at any time; the bill may be amended before it reaches the full committee.

Changes the weights for kindergarten and strikes state requirements for full-day kindergarten.

HB 1900 Jones
The State Board of Education to establish a School District Level Student Data Tracking System Pilot Program that allows for tracking information of students’ accreditation on multi-performance measures and information from the district. Ten schools shall be selected to participate in the program.
