Participate in this Oklahoma history site!
BlogOklahoma is building a great resource for Oklahoma history teachers. (Well, that's not why they're building it, but it's a great resource just the same!) The blog focuses on "traveling around the state to see what there is to see."
They have recently added an Historic Places section. The goal is to document all the historical markers in the state. Cool idea, what? You and your students can participate in this effort:

If you would like us to help us to update the BlogOklahoma.us historic places database, and/or blog about your travels around the state, just contact us for details. Guest bloggers are welcome.
What is needed for the Historic Places database?
For Oklahoma Historical Markers:
- At least 1 picture of the Marker
(and one of the site would be nice, if there is something to look at.) - The text from of the Marker
- Directions to the Marker
- GPS Coordinates would be a plus, but not necessary
- Any other information about the Marker
(The history behind the Marker, web links, book references, etc.)
A historic place can be a museum, park, building, attraction, landmark, etc.
- At least 1 picture of the Place
- A brief description of the Place
- Directions to the Place
- GPS Coordinates would be a plus, but not necessary
- A detailed description of the Place
